This site offers Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer according to the rite of the Scottish Episcopal Church and is updated daily. To say the Daily Office of the Scottish Episcopal Church, one needs a variety of different books: the Office Book itself (Daily Prayer), a lectionary for the readings, a Calendar or Ordo to determine which Office to celebrate (which saint’s day, day of the season etc) a bible, and the book of Propers for the Collects of the day or season. Carrying all of these around can get a bit burdensome, especially when travelling. The aim of this site is to provide a version of the Office complete with readings, psalms, collects etc all in the right place and right order and update daily according to the calendar. In addition, the site is readable on mobile/smart phones and an rss feed is available for those who want it. The site is updated at 12.00 midnight and 12.00 noon (GMT) with Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer respectively.
The main part of the Office, including the psalm, is taken from Daily Prayer (available for download or purchase from The Scottish Episcopal Church’s Website). The Collects of the Day come from the Scottish Liturgy, 1982 and the Scripture readings from the NRSV, via the Oremus Bible Browser. The following is the required notice of copyright for use of the NRSV: ‘New Revised Standard Version Bible: Anglicized Edition, copyright 1989, 1995, Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. This site is not an offical site of the Scottish Episcopal Church and has not yet been officially approved or sanctionted by that church.
