My Superior Ball!

The other day on my walk I found a Superior Ball!
It was all very exciting ! Let me tell you about it!
After work Tim offered to cook the humans’ tea (hot hot hot chilli) and while he was doing that Hilary took me for my afternoon walk. She realised she had a bit longer than usual as she wasn’t cooking tea for once, and so we went on my usual Sunday morning walk at Duloch Park and Calais Woods there, instead of just round my local park.
We had only just set out on my walk when Hilary threw my tennis ball for me and I dutifully ran off after it!
But… as I was sniffing around in the grass trying to find it I came upon a much bigger brighter ball - a truely superior ball! I has seen these before, usually with children or older humans running around kicking them! Hilary tells me it was called a Foot Ball so I immediately renamed it a Paw Ball. It was black and red, rather handsome just like me, I must bark.
Anyway it appeared to be abandoned…. lost… deserted. And very lonely. There were no humans around apart from a tiny wee girl and an old man in the playpark bit, playing on the swings, who looked very unlikely to have anything to do with such a gorgeous ball some distance away.
So.. I decided finders were keepers and picked the huge ball up in my superior mouth and took it back to Hilary!
She was quite surprised and also amused at it was obviously quite difficult for me to carry it around the woods, where we were headed. She told me it was much to big for her pocket as well!
So I persevered and carried it with my on our walk, allowing Hilary to have a few (fairly feeble) kicks at it, and to carry it for a very short spell when I was busy playing with another dog.
I took it into the muddy patches, the long grass, and even some yucky dirty water at some point. Hilary kept taking photos of me as she was impressed with my dedication and care of my new toy!
I carried it very gently so my superior teeth did not puncture it, as had happened before the big ball the humans got me for one of my puppyhood birthdays- which I destroyed within the hour!
We never found its rightful human so I decided to adopt it and took it home! I hope I can have a proper game of pawball with my male human when he has time!
I think I have FINALLY won over my male human who has at long last realised now that I am FIVE I need to be treated well! (I did mention it was my birthday earlier in the week, didn’t I? Just in case you missed it, I was FIVE years old on my birthday on Monday and here is a photo of me with my lovely rabbit birthday card from my friends Fay and Mrs C- this is the closest I have come to catching a rabbit since we moved to Dunfermline!
I am having an exciting time of it just now as my extra human Laura is staying with me for a few days. It is a special time for us both as it was her birthday on Monday (she was 22) and it is my birthday next Monday (I will be 5!)
Well as I said on my blog the other day I am out of prison now, and back in my flat in Auchtermaxty with the humans, who are still on holiday from work. It is actually very odd having them around all the time as I am used to having some peace and quiet when they are out at work! Apart from when they had a short trip to the pub the other night I have had one or both of them to attend to me at all times, and have also enjoyed some nice walks in my forest and on my Superior. Today is Sunday and they are not even going to church!
They told me they enjoyed their break in the Outer Hebrides, although the weather left a lot to be desired as it was wet windy and wild! Sounds fab to me, and looking at their photos I think I would have liked it apart from the choppy ferry crossing and the mega long twisty drives. Tim got used to the single track roads in no time and enjoyed playing chicken with the on coming cars to make them stop for him!
I have put a few pictures on this blog but as I wasn’t there I won’t bore you too much with human antics. They show at the top Hilary on the Island of Eriskay, which is joined by a causeway to South Uist and is a lovely litttle island with great views. It was sunny the day they were there but very windy and cold and Hilary took off her fleece for the photo and froze for a few minutes ! The middle picture is one of the glorious deserted sandy beaches on the west coast of South Uist, which is 25 miles or so of white sands.. absolutely amazing but again FREEZING and windy and a quick look had to suffice or the humans would have been blown away!! Finally the one here is Tim at Lochboisdale, which is the ferry port on South Uist. Again, sunny but cold!
